Harriet May  Winkleblack (French)
Harriet M. (French) Pion Winkleblack, 89, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Sugar Brook Villa Assisted Living, Cohasset.
Harriet was born in 1928 to Neil and Beatrice French. They moved from Minneapolis to Grand Rapids in 1938. She was united in marriage to George Pion in 1948 until his death in 1977. She found happiness again when she met and was married in 1983 to Edward Winkleblack, Sr. until his death in 2007. During their retired years together, they enjoyed traveling the country by motorhome.

Harriet was a very devoted and active member of the First Church of God. Her talents were put to good use, including the typing of the Sunday bulletin each week. Starting in 1967, she was a secretarial aide at Grand Rapids Senior High for 12 years, and later a bookkeeper at Industrial Lubricant for 15 years until retiring in 1994. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Also preceded in death by granddaughter Jessica Kelly, son Gary Pion, and son-in-law Kris Powell.

Survived by daughters Carole (Randy) Pastorius, Laurie (Ted) Kelly, Lisa Powell, and by Ed’s children, LeAnna (Vern) Laine, Ed (Linda) Winkleblack and David (Kim) Winkleblack. Also survived by George’s remaining siblings, Florine Lutterman and Kenneth (Diane) Pion; many nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at the First Church of God in Grand Rapids. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Itasca Calvary Cemetery.
